For Stephen A. Kandell, protecting the rights of South Florida citizens and consumers has been his mission for more than 40 years, which he continues to do today through both his work and community service.

After growing up in Englewood, New Jersey, Steve attended the University of Miami and went on to graduate from University of Miami School of Law in 1970. After settling in South Florida, Steve embarked upon his remarkable journey as a personal injury attorney in which he has handled numerous high profile claims resulting in multi-million dollar settlements and tried dozens of cases.

Steve is a founding partner of Kandell & Kandell. Prior to that he was the managing partner of the law firm of Brumer, Cohen, Logan, Kandell & Kaufman and its successor firm, Cohen & Kandell.

Throughout his years of practice in the South Florida community, Mr. Kandell has developed an outstanding reputation for integrity and excellence among fellow attorneys, judges, community leaders as well as past clients. Mr. Kandell is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum as well as a long-standing member of the American Trial Lawyers Association (ATLA), and the Florida Justice Association (FJA, formerly AFTL).

While living in Miami-Dade County for the past 45 years, Mr. Kandell has also established a long history of volunteer and charity work in the South Florida community, working specifically with children’s needs. At various points in time over the years, Mr. Kandell serves or has served on the boards of directors of Deering Bay Yacht and Country Club, Suniland Optimist Soccer Club, Family Resource Center, Temple Beth Am, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America, City of Miami Disabilities Program and Pinecrest Premier Soccer.

Aside from his prior involvement with Big Brothers and Big Sisters on a Board level, Steve also has continued in his role as Big Brother to his ‘little brother’ Nicholas Martinez for the past 12 years. Steve has been recognized for his work on behalf of City of Miami charities with two Certificates of Appreciation from the Mayor of the City of Miami.

When not savoring the view of Biscayne Bay from his office window, Steve enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, playing golf, going to the movies and caring for his living reef aquariums.
